HBCU ALUMNI INITIATIVE

wwwwww.jpg

Why This Initiative Matters

A tech-driven initiative for HBCU graduates and alumni who are ready to turn ambition into direction, community, and real next steps.

This matters because HBCU talent has never been the issue. The gap has often been access to updated tech infrastructure, industry-aligned curriculum, funding, mentorship, career exposure, and the professional relationships that help people move from potential to opportunity.

For many alumni, the technology landscape has changed dramatically since they were in school. Some did not have access to the same tools, certifications, labs, employer pipelines, or tech-focused career guidance that today’s market now expects. That does not mean they are behind. It means they deserve clearer support for what is next.

The HBCU Alumni Initiative exists to help create that clarity.

Through this initiative, participants can enter through one of BTI’s two core pathways: the Career-Shifter Pathway or the Tech-Climber Pathway, depending on where they are in their journey.

Some are moving into tech and need structure, confidence, and foundational support. Others are already building experience and want to sharpen their skills, strengthen their positioning, and grow toward stronger opportunities.

This initiative connects alumni to pathway guidance, mentor touchpoints, career readiness support, curated events, community accountability, and tech-driven next steps.

CAREER SHIFTER

Transitioning into tech, the Career Shifter Pathway is built to help you build foundations, confidence, and direction through structured support, curated learning, and career readiness

TECH CLIMBER

Tech Climber Pathway is designed to help you level up with more targeted growth and support. Tech Climber helps alumni with some experience deepen skills and grow toward what is next.

Why We Built It This Way

We built this Initiative because HBCU-connected talent should not have to navigate Charlotte’s tech ecosystem alone. This model creates a more realistic, community-rooted way for alumni to build clarity, confidence, and momentum over time. Split payment options help reduce barriers, expand access, and make structured support more reachable.

This Initiative also helps BTI strengthen Charlotte’s local talent ecosystem by creating more visible connections between alumni, mentors, partner resources, and tech-driven opportunities.
